Sheepskin Rugs can usually be kept free of dirt and dust by regularly brushing them with a wire Rug Brush or pet brush.
However, in the event of more intense cleaning all of our Sheepskin Rugs can be washed on a wool wash cycle on a low temperature in a washing machine, preferably no hotter than 30 degrees, using a teaspoon of non-biological washing powder. We also suggest that by adding a teaspoon of glycerine to the water this may help to keep the back of the Sheepskin rug supple.
Do not use biological washing powders, soap based powders, soap flakes or conditioners or any detergent containing enzymes.
Always dry naturally, away from any direct heat including direct sunlight, preferably in a shaded room with no heating or outside on a cloudy day.
The rug will take a couple of days to completely dry. It is always advisable to brush the wool of the rug whilst wet with a wire Rug Brush or pet brush to allow the air to circulate through the fibres of the wool.
DO NOT tumble dry, DO NOT dry on a radiator, DO NOT use bleech, DO NOT wash in hot water.
——————————————————————————————————————————————————————- CARE AND CLEANING OF YOUR REINDEER HIDE
Reindeer hides should not be placed near extreme heat, in front of a fire, in conservatories, near a radiator or on floors with under floor heating.
Please avoid stepping, sitting or walking on the hide to prevent shedding. Do not allow animals to lie on your hide, they love to dig the hair out.
To clean shake occasionally outside, or to clean more thoroughly place the hide on a floor, use a standard vacuum cleaner, but choose the lowest power setting and brush from head to feet.
Hides are waterproof so can be used outside as decorative chair or bench covers. If the hide does get wet, leave it to dry naturally outside, but not in direct sunlight.
