It is a busy month already with plenty of exciting events in the local villages and towns, with a huge influx of visitors heading over for the summer holidays we thought we’d mention some great events that we think you should see if you are in the area.

Combe Martin Events

If you are in the area today, the village are finishing up carnival week with the wheelbarrow fiesta and fireworks, some of the pubs too such as the Dolphin will also be hosting live music and a BBQ.

On the 11th there will be the annual classic car show at the Pack O Cards Inn, with a great bug and reptile handling session during the day; followed by the duck race and live music.

Tour of Britain is passing through Combe Martin on the 3rd Sept, this is the UK’s largest cycle race and a fantastic opportunity to watch if you are in the area.

Ilfracombe Events

If you love some great food then get on down to Ilfracombe for the devon street food fest, it will be running from the 10th – 12th and will be running from 12 noon until 10pm everyday; an outstanding array of food will be available catering to all with vegan, gluten free and vegetarian vendors.

On the 11th will be the exciting and hilarious south west birdman show, come and watch as would be pilots hurl themselves off Ilfracombe pier hoping to ‘fly’ the furthest to be crowned champion of the event; as well as the event itself there will be live music with a mixture of food, craft and charity stalls, start time is 11am.

If you love beer, get down to the Landmark where there they will be hosting the beer, street food and music festival, sit back and relax outside on the green and enjoy a pint.

Ilfracombe Carnival is on the 26th, the adventurous mix of floats will keep you entertained for an evening, this event raises money for local charities and has a great atmosphere.

Ilfracombe is the final spotting point for the Mini Annual Tour, if you love an old motor this is great sight to behold, it usually takes about thirty minutes for all of the participating mini’s to clear an area. Spectators gather to watch and cheer as they drive through the beautiful countryside to their final stopping point, not to be missed.
