It is set to be another sunny weekend and for the week beyond that, so we thought we would line up a few of the best spots in our area for exploring the spectacular coastline. It all depends on what kind of sea exploration you prefer, you can dive straight in (quite literally) with some great snorkeling and diving spots around Ilfracombe, Watermouth, Combe Martin and Lundy Island.

If you are more an on top of the surface adventurer then we have some fantastic facilities for surf, kayak, paddleboard, jetski, bodyboard hire available such as multiple surf hire in Woolacombe and Croyde like the Hunter Surf School and Hire, Nick Thorn Surf Coaching, The Outdoor Shop and Kayak Hire in Combe Martin and the Surf Centre Woolacombe. They all offer guides tours and lessons to make sure you are feeling comfortable at sea; if you are already confident on that front they do great offers with equipment hire and are available for any advice or help so you can get out and do your own thing. Our coastline is surrounded in diverse wildlife from dolphins, seals, coral life, birds and the odd basking shark.

Perhaps instead you are more of a wildlife fanatic but prefer a more gentle approach? Then we strongly recommend you try out a boat trip from Ilfracombe Harbour, the Ilfracombe Princess and the Ilfracombe Sea Safari offer excellent coastal tours with a great knowledge on the local wildlife and area. If you fancy venturing somewhere a little further then Lundy Island is a must, with an array of beautiful marine life such as seals and unique birds such as the puffin you’ll be in your element.

Just remember, all of this and so much more can all be explored on foot too if you walk along the South West Coast Path.
